Picture Crazy! Well, kind of…

Third post of the day?! What?!

Well, since this morning I’ve been practicing taking pictures! Hahaha :]

So here are a few more for you!



The post-run snack I was talking about! I ate half after my run and the other half once I got to school. It was SO yummy. There was more of a crunch than in a regular Larabar and that sort of bothered me at first, but it was so worth it because it really tasted like pumpkin pie! As I ate it I was craving a soy latte to go with. Mmmmm!


For some reason, the Larabar did NOT fill me up! Maybe because I’m not used to running in the morning, but for some reason I started to get RAVENOUSLY hungry! I kid you not. I was going to swim after my lit class, but I was so hungry I needed to eat ASAP. I didn’t have anymore snacks though so I just headed home. Upon arrival, I threw together a breakfast wrap! It had 2 scrambled eggs and 2 Jimmy Dean all-natural, hand made by yours truly, sausage patties and cheese and spinach. I inhaled it, people. I was still feeling hungry though. Like I said, I was ravenous. I gave it about 20 minutes before I accepted that the hunger was real. So this happened! What you’re looking at is 0% plain Chobani w/ a little PB, granola, and blueberries. YES YES YES. It was delicious…


It prompted me to mentally add granola to this list so I could eat it with the Chobani ahhahaha! I LOVE to grocery shop. It’s so fun and exciting! Anyway, as I started to get so hungry in lit, and soooo bored, I wrote my grocery list for this week! Yes, I got more Chobani and I bought Nature Plus granola that I’ve had before! Yummm probiotics!

That leads me to a question!

I understand that this blog is a random conglomerate of my thoughts and every day life…

BUT would anyone like to see more “what I ate” or grocery lists or training talk?!

Seeing as nutrition sparked my love for all things health and fitness, I wouldn’t mind doing that more often one bit! ;]

Rain Day // Rest Day

Hello friends,

Happy Super Bowl Sunday! I will not be watching the game today. Why? Well, for one, I don’t really know who’s even playing. Two, more importantly, I don’t care who is playing. And three, I don’t even know what channel it would be on anyway! ;]

Instead, my Sunday has been productive and also so lazy. 

It’s been productive because I have:

  1. Washed all the dishes & towels
  2. Grocery shopped a bit {yay for quality toilet paper!}
  3. Met up to study for chemistry
  4. Finished chemistry homework

Today has been lazy because it is a rest day. I’ve been thinking to myself lately how much I truly love to run and workout and I don’t want to do anything to jeopardize that! So, to prevent injury, overtraining, or getting sick, I am taking a rest day today. It also happened to perfectly land on a cold, cloudy, rainy day, so I don’t feel bad about missing out on the sunshine. There is none! And seriously, people, I’ve done nothing but chill. Normally, when I have a “rest” day, I always do some abs or some light weight arm stuff, but NOT TODAY. It’s pretty hard to resist, but I know it’s for the best.

I am currently training for three races…. Hahaha:

The Austin Half Marathon on February 16! Two weeks! :] I am so excited and beyond ready! 

The Rookie Tri on May 4th! 300 m swim, 11.2 mile bike, 2 mile run. I’ve done this race before,  but I didn’t put much effort… This time I want to go fast!

Oilman Texas Triathlon on November 4th! 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run. It will be an exhilarating challenge! {The official training plan for that starts in July…}

But since this semester has started, I have upped my training. More running, more cycling, more strength training. 

And it makes me so very hungry. Like all the time. Luckily, when the hunger strikes, it’s healthy cravings. But it’s still hard not to grab a spoon and a peanut butter jar and eat to my heart’s content.

I’ve been focusing more on protein, but mainly lean sources like tuna or salmon {in a can}, and chicken. I also really love ground turkey, but I am currently out!

I know that muscle burns more calories than fat, so it’s kind of to be expected. But I’ve never felt like this before! At least I know my metabolism is roaring! ;]

In other news, today when I met with a friend to work on chem, we went to a coffee shop called Bennu Coffee. I ordered a soy steamer {basically a latte, but with coffee and not espresso} and it was so delicious. 

Alright, I’m off to just lounge around some more and try to resist the urge to eat all my food! 






My Tuesday

Well hello hello!

Sadly, my Tuesday is not over just yet! I have one more class to go at 5 {the worst class ever! might I add} but then I get to go home to my apartment!

I am so hungry! I ate my lunch really early and I had a pineapple slice earlier, but it’s going to be a looooong couple of hours until I can make dinner. On the bright side, I already know what I am going to have and it is quick and awesome!

Today’s gone pretty well though! I got dressed thinking it was 70 degrees out like yesterday morning, but it was 50!! However, the sun has come out and it has warmed up and it feels like spring!

Don’t get me wrong… I am ridiculously excited for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but this weather makes me want to go camping and swimming and eat ice cream! ;]

Anyway, because it’s so beautiful outside, I went on a short 2.25 mile run around campus! I wore my cool GPS watch that my dad gave me and I felt so official!


I preceded to come back to Gregory and hop on an elliptical for 30 minutes! I did a HIIT elliptical workout. I was obsessed with those at the beginning of this summer, so it was like déjà vu for me! Haha! Then I did 24 assisted pull ups. My goal is to be able to do real pull ups by the end of summer 2014. They’re hard! I went on to do 16 tricep extensions @ 20#. Today’s workout was more like my normal Thursday ones!

However, because I’m going home this weekend to judge & go to what will be a B.E.A.utiful wedding, I think I am going to tackle my long run on Thursday morning! :]

I have TEN more days of this semester until finals! Hallelujah! There are so many good things to come this winter! 🙂

Healthy Self Survery // Lessons Learned


Today has been interesting! I learned some things today:

1. An almond butter banana sandwich & a carrot is not a sufficient lunch. Especially with a busy day & a 2.75 mile run planned. And an already small breakfast preceding it all.

2. If you don’t know how many laps you’ve done, you can trick your muscles into not knowing either.

3. Stretching sore muscles is lovely.

4. Unbelievably painful stomachs make for lightheaded-ness & difficulty focusing on Intro to Computing {see #1.}

5. Veggie patties make excellent quick dinners.

Anyywhoooo, back to what I was actually going to write about! So, my very favorite blogger ever is Nutrition Nut On The Run! Reading her blog is actually what inspired my lifestyle change :] Well, when I get bored I read through the archives and today I stumbled upon this survey and decided it would be fun to do it myself! 

1. What did you eat for breakfast?

I had a pumpkin muffin with 1/2 a banana and a slather of almond butter. Also, I downed a cup of coffee with a splash of almond milk!

2. How much water do you drink a day?

Well, normally a couple bottles {reusable bottles, that is} worth. Today I felt like I drank gallons! I knew I’d be running and busy all day, so I hydrated. And then when I started getting hungry before my last class I tried to excuse it as dehydration and then when my stomach started to really hurt and I started getting dizzy, I drank more water just to have something in my stomach.

3. What is your current favorite workout?

Running :] 

4. How many calories do you eat a day?

I don’t count them! Earlier this year I became addicted to counting calories with the MyFitnessPal app. However, it had be only consuming 1200 calories a day, which is practically crash dieting to me. I don’t like that one bit! I prefer to eat healthy, nutrient filled meals and allow the weight to come off that way. And it works! 

5. What are your favorite healthy snacks?

Ooooh, a piece of toast with almond butter, 1/2 a banana, honey, flax seeds, pepitas, and cinnamon. Other than that, I’m not a big snacker.

6. What do you usually eat for lunch?

Well, it differs a lot. It depends on my schedule and where I am! As of late, I’ve obviously not been eating enough, as seen by today. But normally a salad or a sandwich or a veggie patty!

7. What is your favorite body part to strength train?

QUADS. Oh my oh my, I love wall sits & squats.

8. What is your least favorite body part to strength train?

Not gonna lie, abs for sure. 

9. What are your “bad” food cravings?

Cookies. Semi-hard/burnt chocolate chip walnut cookies to be exact.

10. Do you take vitamins or supplements?

Nope! Although I think I might start taking iron.

11. How often do you eat out?

It depends. This weekend, with my visitors, I ate out a lot {but did my best to keep it clean!} But other than that, not really. 

12. Do you eat fast food?

Chipotle burrito bowl. Enough said. And also, I enjoy Pumpkin Spice Lattes from Starbucks {did I say enjoy? I meant obsess over} & Starbucks just in general. 

My drinks are:

Iced latte w/ nonfat milk or soy

Iced coffee w/ nonfat or soy milk

Pumpkin Spice Latte w/ no whip & nonfat milk

13. Who is your biggest supporter?

A lot of people. Especially those that have seen the transformation. 

14. Do you have a gym membership?

Yes, Gold’s Gym! I’m going tomorrow night for BodyPump. However, on campus I have access to the beautiful Gregory Gym. 

15. How many hours of sleep do you get a night? 

Lately, about 6 on average. This minimum sleep demands for two cups of caffeine a day usually. Or just a nice high off of endorphins from a great workout!

16. Do you have a “cheat” day?

No, I just indulge moderately! I don’t worry about binges much anymore because I’ve learned how to indulge occasionally. 

17. Do you drink alcohol?

NOPE. Whaaaaat, a college kid that doesn’t drink?! Hello, my liver is extremely important to me, as is my overall well being of my body. Also, I used to get headaches ev.er.y day as a kid and I get migraines every now and then nowadays, so I don’t understand the appeal of alcohol-induced headaches.

And guess what? I don’t smoke either. Not cigarettes or cigars or marijuana. Again, lungs are pretty freaking awesome and hard to replace. Also, emphysema is gross & I like being able to talk without a box in my throat doing it for me. 

18. Do you have a workout buddy?

Eh, not really. However, since I’ve been in Austin, Sabrina and I have worked out together a couple of times!

19. What is the best thing that has changed about your life since committing to a healthy lifestyle?

EVERYTHING :] Especially the way it has challenged my outlook on what I want to do with my life… But more on that later.

20. What was the last healthy thing you did?

I ate a crap ton of spinach. Yes, I ❤ spinach. For dinner I had a veggie patty with a spinach salad consisting of 1/4 avocado, cucumber, with vinegar and olive oil.
