Coffee Date!

Hi 🙂 happy Wednesday!

Let’s pretend we are having a coffee (or tea or HOT CHOCOLATE) date! We need to catch up.

So, if I was sipping an almond milk latte (with an extra shot):

I’d tell you: The temperature has significantly cooled down here in Austin and the wind has picked up in strength. Ultimately, the weather is beautiful and it feels like fall!

I’d tell you: I have an organic chemistry test tomorrow that I haven’t studied yet for, so I’ll be up late tonight working on that. Nonetheless, I don’t feel too stressed. Life is good. Really really good.

I’d tell you: Today I had running class in the freezing cold, but I felt strong and happy the whole time. (We did 800 sprints… In case you were wondering!) Afterwards, I put on a funky, colorful sweater that I got last year, my favorite pair of jeans, and some riding boots. Then my roommate braided my hair in a fancy way, so I felt like a princess!

I’d tell you: Also, I was recently inspired by the beautiful, wise, talented, and overall amazing Marissa Stutz to try to disconnect from the amount of time I spend on my phone. Last night I turned off push notifications for all my social media apps and it’s been pretty peaceful. It’s only been a few hours, but I’ve already started to forget about checking all my various accounts. Try it!

I’d tell you: Another random tidbit: Yesterday my roommate and I made a winter vegetable soup in the crockpot and it was so fun to come home to after a long cold day! We don’t have many spices, so it wasn’t as flavorful as can be, but that was easily remedied by eating it with toast slathered with Earth Balance “butter”!

The soup had white potatoes, carrots, sweet potato, red bell pepper, kale, delicata squash, cauliflower, and vegetable broth! I had considered throwing some tofu in there, but in all honesty, I was too lazy to cut up the block. 😉

I’d tell you: My dad is coming to Austin this weekend! We’re going to adventure around and enjoy the weather. (Fathertron, if you’re reading this, make sure to bring warm clothes so that we can play outside.)

I’d tell you: The semester is nearly over! Whaaaaaaat! After this week, we have 2 weeks and 3 days of class left… I’m so looking forward to winter break (helllooooo PORTLAND) but I’m going to miss this semester! I love my classes and my undergraduate assistant position.

I’d tell you: I sent in my resume for an internship, but I’m going to keep what it actually is on the hush for now. Let me just say, it would be AMAZING.

I’d tell you: Marathon training is going swimmingly! Saturday morning is a 13 miler, so cross your fingers I don’t turn into a Popsicle!

I’d tell you: I feel alive with passion as of late. I can’t keep a smile off my face either. It’s the best.

I’d tell you: I really really want to get Malala Yousafzai’s book to read on my way to Portland.

I’d tell you: I’m glad you have spent the time to sit down with me 🙂 and then I’d invite you over to see my apartment because it’s already decorated for Christmas.

If you were sipping your favorite warm beverage, what would you tell me?

October & Ramblings

Happy October friends!
This month is so wonderful!
Normally Texas actually begins to transition into fall, there’s pumpkin carving, and Halloween! 🙂

I just finished breakfast and now I’m actually drinking a cup of coffee at home because I woke up 30 minutes before my alarm. I could be taking this time to study for my Genetics midterm on Thursday, but clearly the best way to abate stress is to just procrastinate…

This weekend I am headed home for the first time all semester and I am excited! The weather is supposed to be insanely nice in Magnolia, so I’m going to attempt a 50 mile ride and a 10 mile run. Heyyyooo brick. Other than that, I want to carve a pumpkin and just straight up chill. This semester has made me the busiest I’ve ever been in my life, so I really need a weekend to unwind.

Going to Kerrville for my triathlon was the perfect vacation for me and I came back to Austin feeling really refreshed, but going to Magnolia will be my chance to go on a lazy vacation.

Last night, there were so many cops and even a helicopter surrounding my apartment complex! We locked all the doors and such, but I still have no idea what was going on…

Also, yesterday was such an amazing day! There was a minor hiccup of just plain ol’ negativity, but I took my girl T-Swizzy’s advice and shook it off. Yeah, I got down to that sick beat. Hahahahaha, man I’m funny. #not

Nonetheless, the rest of my day was freaking awesome and I ran into one of my insanely awesome coworkers on campus which was definitely a day brightener!

Today I have classes, three hours of Genetics office hours (to hopefully help me wrap my head around it), and then a swim!

The fact that it’s October makes up for it though 🙂

P.S. My dad’s birthday is tomorrow!

Hey hey happy Sunday! I hope it’s been relaxing 🙂

Also, happy happy fall! ❤

I'm pretty busy at the moment, so I'm just going to throw a bunch of pictures at you from my week!

I had a nice hair day!

Bought new boots for fall!

Pumpkin oatmeal!

Trail runnin’!

Sorry to have gone MIA! Life’s been a little on the wild side and will be for the next two weeks! 🙂

I’m loving it though! The nomadic life is pretty awesome.

At the moment, I am without a constant source of wifi… Or a house. Wait, what is Juliana talking about? Check it out on Insta.

Talk to you soon! (Hopefully!)

All The Things

Hi, I’m alive!

I’ve just been doing ALL THE THINGS and sitting down to write a blog post hasn’t been one of them.

I’ve been eating, training, biking, running, swimming, working, adventuring, reuniting with friends, laughing, rock climbing, cleaning, driving, planning, relaxing, sleeping, cooking, grocery shopping, yoga-ing, and so so so much more!

I’ll hopefully be back soon with something of more depth!

^^^ TRUE

Ramblings of A Procrastinator.

Happy Mother’s Day to all you mothers out there!

You are so so so appreciated and loved.

Well, that goes for everyone else too!

This morning I had work, in a little while I’m going apartment hunting, and later I’m getting my workout on!

20 mile bike ride and a 1000 meter swim. Wahhooooo!

As you all probably know already, my last final is Tuesday morning… I’m a little nervous.

Tomorrow I have another long ride and a run, but I’m going to knock that out in the morning so that I won’t feel stressed while sitting around all day studying acid-base theory. Ohhh, the struggle.

Anyway, I was just popping in to say hello!

It is a b-e-a-utiful day outside and I can’t wait to enjoy it.

Also, I’ve been working on weaning myself off of caffeine and it is going smoothly. When I’m working, I have access to unlimited iced coffee and sometimes I would suck it down like there was no tomorrow… Even when I wasn’t tired!

So my goal as of late, which is working out pretty well, is a cup of coffee in the morning (just one) and then hot green tea in the afternoon if necessary!

Also, I’ve been cutting down on meat and dairy quite a bit (except for the gelato festival… whoops!) and I’ve had SO much more energy. It’s odd.

I haven’t been hitting the afternoon slump like I used to. Seriously, around 1:30-2:30 I used to just DIE. And now I feel so great! Sometimes if I do get sleepy I drink the tea and/or take a 20 minute nap. I’m fine with that. I am not okay with total caffeine dependence!

Since I’ll hopefully get in the study zone, I’ll be back after I take my chem final! Wish me luck!

Summer is so so close! HUZZAH! 🙂

So much time for running and biking and swimming and baking and playing and fun and LIFE. ❤

See y’all later! 😉

P.S. I could totally be studying right now.

Because I’m Happy

Life rocks so much. True story.
Even when it really doesn’t seem like it. It actually totally does.

Today I am happy to be alive. To live in Austin, TX. To have an amazing family.

Today I am happy I had my heart broken for the first time. To have discovered myself. To know who I truly am.

Today I am happy to attend UT. To study things I am passionate about. To strive to help others.

Today I am happy for iced coffee and a splash of milk. For music that makes me feel on top of the world. For the ability to walk.

Today I am happy to be alive and well. As I am every day.

I can only hope you are happy as well.

This is going to be extremely random. I’m warning you now.

So I’m sitting in Thunderbird Coffee (a stone throw from Sabrina & Mathew’s house!) and the music is putting me in an odd thoughtful trance, so here goes…

1st: I’m homeless now. To me, home is not necessarily a place. Home is just something that makes you feel so safe and secure and comfortable. Home can be a place but it can also be an activity or a person that you take comfort in. Well, my home is no longer. I don’t consider running my home because it’s more like my vacation haha! Anyway, as I realized this yesterday, I began to feel so sad. But then I remembered, I’ve always wanted to be a vagabond. I’ve always known that I have wanderlust in my bones. Now I’m free to act on it.

2nd: My first college spring break has been anything but wild. Yesterday I felt so bored and lazy and it was KILLING me. However, I then realized that it was my chance to enjoy me time and just relax. So that’s what I did. I’ve also gotten ~10 hours of sleep for both of the past nights which is unheard of for me! yay for catching up on sleep!

3rd: Happy Pi Day! Today I ran a very fast 3.14 miles in celebration! As I was running, I thought about the Rookie Tri that I’m signed up for in the beginning of May and I got so insanely excited. I love feeling my body get stronger and stronger everyday. It’s the one thing that I get to be in control of.

4th: Bluebonnets are slowly but surely popping up 🙂 if you know me, you know I love flowers! So you can imagine the giant smile that pops onto my face every time I see one!

5th: Iced coffee makes me weirdly hungry. Good thing I brought a Pumpkin Pie ALT larabar!

6th: I’ve decided to plan a freaking awesome summer trip. Where and when? Yo no se. But it will be amazing.

Ryan Gosling just gets me. 😉

Anything random you’d like to share?

going and going and going…

I’ve been chugging along lately!

As happy as can be and as busy as a bee!

So to go along with the randomness and craziness of my life lately, I will leave you with some random announcements and thoughts from yours truly!

I have a job!
